E’ un bellissimo venerdì
durante la Paris Fashion Week,
un venerdì
di pioggia e sole, che in più di un’occasione
mi fa dubitare di essere a Parigi ma a Londra.
Dopo la mattina trascorsa a Première Classe
e il pranzo in una delle mie brasserie preferite del Marais,
arrivo puntuale nel laboratorio atelier di
Catherine Lévy
anima di
Dorette Jewels
che mi apre le porte del suo magico mondo fatto di gemme, di colori, di profumi e di suggestioni.
Ha una voce calda Catherine,
profonda, melodiosa e gentile, mi accoglie nel suo laboratorio luminoso,
con le finestre su una delle vie animate del 3ème arrondissement.
I colori del mondo di Dorette,
le collezioni di insoliti oggetti apparentemente appoggiati qua e là, i mobili vintage,
i giochi di luce e di specchi,
fanno da colonna sonora al nostro pomeriggio.
Mentre Catherine mi prepara il suo tè giapponese ai cereali,
io accarezzo con gli occhi ogni oggetto che vedo,
quell’ambiente
dal pavimento rosso e dalle pareti verdi ha un fascino particolare che mi riporta
in India con i ricordi e le suggestioni.
Mi soffermo a guardare le luci votive,
i fiori nei piccoli vasetti di design che sono certa provengano da Tsè Tsè,
concept parigino che amo.
E’ bizzarro, ma penso che l’India ricorra
ogni qualvolta la magia aleggia in un bell’incontro o circostanza,
nei colori unici e nelle suggestioni ricche di fascino che solo l’India sa regalare, anche in questo incontro è così.
E l’India è ben presente nella vita di Catherine Lévy
che ad un certo punto, tra i successi di un lavoro ben avviato in famiglia, decide di partire e di lasciarsi alle spalle la bella realtà consolidata di
Tsè Tsè,
concept di nicchia parigino di oggetti di design e di tendenza molto esclusivi, non i soliti multimarca commerciali che intuisco Catherine non abbia nelle sue corde.
Chiacchieriamo davanti alla seconda tazza di tè,
di tanto in tanto ci soffermiamo a guardare qualche
anello che mi rapisce;
i suoi gioielli non sono mai in serie,
sono piacevoli da portare, sono leggeri e delicati, forse è per questo che
Catherine ne indossa tre, quattro, anche cinque per dito,
come se fossero un mantra.

nasce emozioni, dalla suggestione del momento,
sono distribuiti in punti vendita esclusivi nel mondo, non nelle grandi catene,
che intuisco non è nei progetti di Catherine, e lo si evince da tutto ciò che la circonda, a partire dai suoi bellissimi capelli blu-viola, per proseguire con l’abbigliamento ricercato e ricco di colori e dalle studiate sovrapposizioni di texture, colori e pattern.
Catherine seleziona personalmente le pietre tagliate a Jaipur,
le pietre parlano, raccontano e lo fanno per taglio e colore più che per caratteristiche intrinseche ed è proprio in India, che così, un po’ per caso, un po’ per gioco, un po’ per sé realizza i primi gioielli che avranno un successo prorompente tra le sue amicizie che le chiederanno di realizzare piccole poesie da indossare.
Dopo qualche anno di
creazioni, sperimentazioni e piacevoli successi dovuti allo sbocciare di fiori destinati a durare per sempre, nasce
Dorette Jewels
che in pochi anni diventa punto di riferimento di chi ama
i gioielli con un’anima
e uno dei marchi preferiti dai
concept di fine jewelry di nicchia.
E’ tempo di salutarci, da qualche parte nel Marais Liliana mi aspetta, prima di andare, Agnès,
sua collaboratrice, vede spuntare una trousse dalla mia borsa (l’ennesima) ed esclama:
“C’est drôle..”
da lì una piccola parentesi curiosa..
la vita è davvero ricca di coincidenze e incontri,
ma questa è un’altra storia…

Am I really in Paris ? it’s a beautiful sunny and raining Friday here in Paris,
and more than once this unusual weather made up my mind with the strange idea to be in London instead , but suddenly the amazing atmosphere of the Paris Fashion Week brought me back down again in the French city.
After having spent the whole morning to the Premiere Classe and having had lunch in one of my favorite brasserie in the Marais, I’m here in perfect time to meet Catherine Lévy
at her Lab and Atelier.
The soul of
Dorette Jewels
welcomes me to her magic world of gems, colors, scents and suggestions
(see December post on Dorette Jewels) Her deep warm voice wrap me in her bright lab with windows on one of the most lively streets of the 3ème arrondissement and I’m glad to be overwhelmed by her collection of unusual objects apparently propped here and there and by the vintage furniture and the play of light and mirrors,
While she prepares me his Japanese cereal tea, my eyes linger on every single object I can see: this place from the red floor to the green walls has a special charm that brings me
to the spirit of India with its memories and suggestions and I’m especially captured by the votive lights , the planted flowers in a small designer jars that for sure are from Tse Tse, Parisian concept that I love indeed.
it seems weird, but I think that this India spirit occurs every time the Magic lingers in a nice encounter or circumstance like this. This unique colors and suggestion certainly come from this magic land that is so present in the Catherine Lévy’s life. So much present that at a certain point of her life she decided to leave a well healthy job and join her magic world.
As we sip the second cup of tea, I found myself linger on some rings: her jewels are never trivial and are really pleasant and delicate to wear, I notice she wears some of them, even 4 or 5 on each finger, as they were a mantra.

give rise to emotions , you can find them in selected exclusive store all around the word out of “big channel” that I’m sure she’s not interested in: I can guess this from every things belongs to her, starting from her beautiful blu-purple hair and from her dressing made up by selected exclusive colors.

This stones speak, tell story according to their cut and color. Her brilliant journey started in India were a bit ‘by chance, a bit’ for fun and a bit ‘for herself , she open her first jewelry that had successful bursting among her friendships asking her to make small poems to wear.

her co-worker, noting the little trousse dropping out from my bag (yet another one) exclaimed:
“C’est drôle ..”
